A high profile member of the John Sadler stable has run her last race and will be served at stud this year.
Vain Queen, a winner of seven races including the Group III Begonia Belle Stakes (1100m), finished unplaced as favourite in the Group I Darley Goodwood (1200m) earlier this month in Adelaide before the decision was made to retire the five-year-old.
The daughter of Artie Schiller was limited to only 16 career starts because of ongoing injuries but managed to amass more than $500,000 in prizemoney and claim a Group I placing in the William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley back in March.
She also developed a reputation for being a straight specialist, winning four of her five starts over Flemington's famous sprint course including her sole black-type victory.
