It’s business as usual at Leilani Lodge after the healing of a rift between Bart Cummings and his grandson James.
The fledgling training partnership between the pair was reportedly on the rocks last week after a fall out over stable management but their differences were apparently settled over a family lunch on Sunday.
James Cummings, the son of Anthony Cummings, had worked for his octogenarian grandfather as stable foreman for several years before it was announced they would form a training partnership from the start of the current racing season.
Bart Cummings is now spending the majority of his time on his farm west of Sydney and apparently found fault with the way his grandson was handling stable staff.
A week ago reports surfaced that the partnership would be dissolved with Bart Cummings happy to devote his time to preparing a select team of horses at Hawkesbury closer to his home at Princes Farm.
However it appears blood is thicker than water with Jack Fisher, a spokesman for the family, confirming all is good between the champion trainer and his grandson.
“I can tell you, in Bart's words, the Cummings dynasty is a united family and I'm happy to say all is well now,” Fisher said.
