EARTHQUAKE FIRM FAVOURITE FOR GOLDEN SLIPPER
Sunday, 23 February 2014: Boom filly Earthquake is a clear favourite for the Golden Slipper following her brilliant win in the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield.
The Peter Snowden-trained filly raced away from her rivals, defeating Jabali and Cornrow and leaving the previously unbeaten Rubick a struggling fourth.
TAB Fixed Odds trimmed Earthquake’s price to win the Golden Slipper from $4.60 to $2.80 while Rubick has drifted out of the market after his disappointing effort.
In other Slipper news, a TAB punter outlaid $4000 each way at $15 and $4.50 on the Tony McEvoy-trained Risen From Doubt to win the bigb race at Rosehill on April 5.
In other autumn carnival markets the impressive Not Listenin’tome was the big mover in TJ Smith Stakes betting after his first-up win at Caulfield.
Not Listenin’tome firmed from $11 to $4.60 to win the G1 sprint at Randwick after his devastating victory.
A winner of three from five, with two placings, the son of Dylan Thomas is now second favourite in the TJ Smith behind Zoustar ($2.80 out to $3.50).
The successful return to racing of Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente in the Peter Young Stakes saw him firm to odds on to win the Australian Cup at Flemington on March 8.
Fiorente firmed from $2.60 to $1.90 to take out the Australian Cup while Mourayan was $51 into $21 after his excellent second.
In the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick , Fiorente firmed from $5.00 to $4.60 to be equal favourite with It’s A Dundeel.
