The Singapore Turf Club has granted leading South Australian apprentice Jamie Kah a short-term visiting jockey’s licence from February 12 until March 2.
The three-week visit is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Singapore Turf Club and Thoroughbred Racing South Australia.
The scheme allows the the Dux of the South Australian Apprentice School to enjoy a short riding stint at Kranji.
Previous South Australian apprentice jockeys to have benefitted from that scheme are Amy Herrmann, Libby Hopwood, Jordan Frew and Krystal Bishop.
Kah, 18, who began her career with Strathalbyn trainer John McMillan only two years ago, has
made a meteoric rise through the Adelaide riding ranks and is currently on loan to top Melbourne trainer Mick Price.
Last year, she became the first apprentice jockey since Jason Holder in 1995/1996 to claim the Adelaide jockeys’ premiership when she rode 41 winners.
She also won the John Letts Medal which recognises excellence in riding and outstanding achievements at all race meetings throughout the State.
Currently second on the Adelaide metropolitan jockey's premiership on 27 winners, Kah has up to now ridden close to 180 winners comprising 70 at metropolitan level.
Kah has won several apprentice series at state level and also represented South Australia at the National Apprentice Series at Moonee Valley last year.
Kah will be indentured to Kranji trainer Shane Baertschiger while in Singapore.
