CAULFIELD: Iconic (R2 No. 5 Trainer Tony McEvoy) - is a talented three-year-old with a consistent record and he is very effective fresh. He beat a good bunch of 3yos over the same course when resuming in September and rounded out that prep with a second behind Bernabeau on Oaks Day. The bottom line with this race is that it is stacked with horses battling for form or those that struggle to win. He's still on the up and if it is a fair track this should be a nice first-up kill for him.
EAGLE FARM: Sea Red (R6 No. 9 Trainer R L Heathcote) - must have enjoyed her spring break as she has returned to racing a different horse. Resumed with a four and a half length win over 1350m at Doomben against the fillies before lining up in a class one at the same track and distance. Draw gate 13 but that wasn't enough to stop her, coming from a mile back to win by nearly five lengths. Hard to resist that sort of dominance and this isn't an overly strong threeyearold race. Up to 1500m and back to her own age she looks a special and overs at the $3.00 to boot.
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: Piacenza (R4 No. 9 Trainer Tony McEvoy) - is a beautiful filly. She was also a moral btn at her first start in the VRC Debutant Stakes (900m) at Caulfield on Oct 12. The horse was back last and awkwardly positioned, then inconvenienced in the straight, yet still managed to finish 3rd btn 2-lens. If you ever get to see a reply, have a look at Dwayne Dunn when the cross the line - he's shaking his head big time; he knew! You don't start fav in a Debutants Stakes unless you're half handy.
