RANDWICK - Statton (R1 No.1, trainer Peter Moody) resumes here and has had a couple of trials in the last month to get him ready and he looks very appealing. Battled on at his debut in January this year in a cracking juvenile race behind the likes of Fighting Sun, Boomwaa and Kumaon. Appreciated the big drop in grade at his next run to open his account in a Canterbury maiden as favourite before spelling. Scored a trial win at Randwick two weeks ago and from the good gate against moderate opposition he looks a good thing.
MOONEE VALLEY - Refulgent (R3 No.4, trainer Darren Weir) had no luck at all last week at Sandown from a wide gate and to be beaten less than a length was a pretty decent effort. No excuses barrier wise this time and getting up to a mile is no issue. If he runs up to that performance last week then he'll atone.
MORPHETTVILLE - Urban Explorer (R1 No.5, trainer Eric Musgrove) has some pretty solid Victorian form from his three starts over sticks this time in. He was super chasing home Tenby Lady at Warrnambool and found Thubiaan too strong two starts back but he was untroubled last time at Sandown, winning with something in hand. Can't fault him for a race like this and he should take beating.
BELMONT - Tower Of Lonhro (R4 No.3, trainer Adam Durrant) found himself too far back last start but attacked the line very well to run second. Drawn a lot better this time than his previous two starts and if he can settle just a little closer he'll be very hard to stop in a very winnable race.
