CAULFIELD: Bring Something (R5 No. 3 Trainer K M Keys) - Now that he has had that easy six length kill in maiden grade, the son of Debring should be able to go on with it. He'd been racing well in Group company prior to being dropped back to a Cranbourne maiden and it was pretty much an exhibition gallop. He ran seventh in the Victoria Derby at the end of the spring so 2400m won't trouble him and he looks very hard to stop.
DOOMBEN: Love Rocks (R5 No. 2 Trainer S P Tregea) - has always shown ability but he really took things to the next level last campaign, stringing together a hattrick of victories where he ran his rivals into the ground. Scored a length win at Listed level over a strong sprint field here at his last run prior to the break and was prepped for this with a good trial hitout this week. If he picks up where he left off even the awkward draw won't stop him.
MORPHETTVILLE: May's Dream (R6 No. 1 Trainer D K Weir) - is a daughter of New Approach and Melbourne Cup placegetter She's Archie made a fine return to racing when 4th at the Valley over the 1200m (first-up from the VRC Oaks) then went right on with the job winning there on a 1523m F&M Handicap 15-days later. She was 2nd to Guelph in the 1000 Guineas and then 2nd again in the Wakeful to subsequent Oaks winner Kirramosa. The set weights with penalties just isn't fair to the others. Provided she travels over okay, she just about looks a moral.
ASCOT: Itshaymn (R7 No. 1 Trainer F R Kersley) - has been given no favours in his three lead up runs to the Derby and he's been excellent with two seconds and a game win off wide barriers. He jumps from gate two here and gets back to set weights conditions and with even luck in running he should be too good. Remember he did sweep through the Guineas, Kingston Town and Cox Stakes in the summer (all from gate two) and that's why he's 26 points clear in the ratings.
