Canberra – Brisbane | 5.30pm Saturday 30 May, GIO Stadium
Canberra put their fans through the ringer on Sunday in surely the most bizarre game played in the NRL this year, falling 26 points behind within 20 minutes before staging an amazing comeback to draw level in the closing stages with all the momentum, only for pantomime villain Josh Reynolds to break their hearts at the death. The Raiders are definitely an exciting team to watch, even more so for the return of fullback Jack Wighton who has endured a stop-start season after breaking into the representative scene. Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett will be delighted to have secured another two points in the Hunter and his renowned man-management skills will be called upon to harness the capabilities of pivot Anthony Milford, who starred on Monday night but is likely to receive a frosty reception in the capital after walking out on the club. With Brisbane having up to six players on the back-up from Origin it would be judicious to check the team sheets ahead of this one but off a short week I was keen to oppose the Broncos anyway.
Last time they met: Round 13 2014 – Canberra 4-28 Brisbane
