Gold Coast – Souths | 3.00pm Saturday 30 May, Cbus Stadium
The Titans have had a fortnight to cool their heels after their golden point defeat at the hands of the Sharks and with just one win from five starts at their Robina base, prop Luke Douglas has this week urged locals to get out in force and support the franchise ahead of their clash with premiers Souths. With first choice hooker Beau Fallon’s run of outs continuing after a freak training accident left him with a dislocated wrist, Keirran Moseley continues in the hooking position as coach Neil Henry also recalls winger Kevin Gordon after a strong run of form for the Burleigh Bears. Souths had Cameron McInnes to thank for a late solo try that saw them steal the points off the Eels and Michael Maguire has rewarded the young rake for his efforts – by dropping him back to the bench! While Madge was at pains to emphasise the demotion of Issac Luke had nothing to do with his desire to return to New Zealand one can’t help but feel the coach was making a statement as Luke returns to his favoured starting position. While the absence of Adam Reynolds tempers my enthusiasm for the Bunnies they have still named a strong team and their defence might see them home in a close one.
