Promising filly High Class credited Shocking with his first New Zealand winner when she streeted her rivals at Avondale on Friday.
Trained by Jenna Mahoney, the two-year-old turned in a dazzling debut performance to score by four and a half lengths.
"She’s always showed us a lot and that was very impressive,” Mahoney said. "She settles nicely and she’ll go over a bit of ground – she could have a good spring.”
High Class was at the tail of the field near the home bend before she answered rider Brendan Hutton’s call.
"Just unbelievable. I thought she had too much to do at the turn, but she let down beautifully,” he said. "I’d love to ride her again.”
The first winner for stakes winning and Group I place Magic Ring mare Mill Duckie, High Class is the second winner for Rich Hill Stud stallion Shocking following the success in Victoria of Shockaholic.
Shocking stands at Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand at a fee of $7,500.
